‘I’m a PROUD Anglo-Saxon!’ - race grifter
youThe connection between Anglo-Saxon heritage and Canada can be traced primarily through British colonial history, especially starting in the 17th and 18th centuries. Many early Canadian settlers were of English descent, stemming from waves of immigration during and after the colonial period, including Loyalists fleeing the American Revolution and later settlers arriving from the British Isles. These settlers carried with them the legal, linguistic, and cultural traditions of England, which were, in turn, shaped by Anglo-Saxon roots. British governance and institutions, deeply influenced by Anglo-Saxon common law and societal structures, were transplanted into Canada and formed the foundation for its political system and cultural norms. Thus, many Canadians of English descent can trace their heritage back through this colonial history to the Anglo-Saxon culture that significantly shaped England.
